Sorting

Put database rows in the order your team needs, from quick scans to saved workflows.

Sorting brings the most important rows to the top of a database view. Use it to organize tasks by due date, rank leads by value, or keep client lists alphabetical.

Why Use Sorting?

  • Find what matters first - Bring urgent or high-priority work to the top
  • Make tables easier to scan - Sort names, dates, numbers, and statuses clearly
  • Keep views consistent - Save a useful sort so the view opens the same way next time

Getting Started

Open any database view and click the Sort button in the view toolbar. Choose the property to sort by, pick a direction, and your rows will reorder right away. For a simple first sort, try Due date from earliest to latest or Name from A to Z.

Sorting One Column

Use a single sort when one property controls the order you want. Click Sort, choose Priority, Due date, or Client, then choose Ascending or Descending.

Ascending puts A before Z, smaller numbers before larger numbers, and earlier dates before later dates. Descending does the reverse for newest updates, highest values, or latest deadlines.

Sorting Multiple Columns

Use multiple sorts when one property is not enough. For example, sort by Status first, then add Due date so each status group is ordered by deadline.

Click Add sort to stack another rule. LumifyHub applies sorts from top to bottom, so put the most important rule first and tie-breakers underneath it.

Saving Sorts

Sort settings are saved with the view, so you do not have to rebuild them every time. Create a view like This Week, High Priority, or Client List, then add the sort order.

When you change a saved view's sort, everyone using that view gets the cleaner order too. If you need a different setup, create a separate view first.

Tips

  • Use dates for action lists - Sort Due date ascending to keep the next deadline at the top
  • Use numbers for ranking - Sort Deal value, Score, or Estimate descending to see the biggest items first
  • Keep multi-sort simple - Two or three sort rules are usually easier to understand than a long stack
  • Create purpose-built views - Save different sorts for planning, follow-up, reporting, and daily work
